Web page List Loans Grants GuideYou must have a website with your own domain name. In today’s business environment, companies that do not have a website are deemed as a greater financial risk for lenders and for grants.  Businesses that do not have a website or have a barebones website are not taken seriously or viewed as unstable. Also, if your website is not reflective of the business for which you are using to apply for the government grant and loan, you need to set up a website that reflects that business.

Your website i  s normally the first chance you have to make an impression. It’s your opportunity to show that this is not a fly-by-night business idea that doesn’t care if it succeeds or fails.  You need to send the message that you are a serious business that is in it for the long haul, and that you adhere to local business ethics and best practices. You want to let the lenders and grant offices know that the loan and grants you will be applying for are critical to your business’ survival and you need them to succeed.

In the past, frauds would quickly set up a website just to get funding and then they would let the business fall right after they got the loan or grant. To avoid this, your website should be at LEAST 3 years old, but we advise a 5 year old website.  Your can buy what are called aged domains from domain auction sites, i.e. Don’t bother with anything older than five years unless you have been in business for that long and can prove it with tax returns.

If your site is less than 3 years old, you can make up for this by having professional press releases sent to various media outlets, which will be discussed in 7. Press Release.
